I'm gonna lose my job....

I have this student who i want to smack the living day lights out of... She is rude, disrespectful and just a little *@$%#. My own child doesn't talk to me in a rude manner and I'll be damn if I'm going to let someone else's... She's freaking bipolar... One minute, she's smiling in my face... The next minute she's acting like the demon seed... She's a freaking nut and I can't stand her... Some people might read this and say how could you say that... Well, try teaching her for a period... You'll lose your damn mind too!!!!!!

I will not say, "How can you say that?" to you. I can relate to your situation. My Reading class is semesterly and last semester [thank goodness we just started the new semester] I had this horrible 8th gr class. It was just a bad mix of kids, clashing personalities, and so on. On many occasions, I have compared teaching that particular group of students to the feeling I'd get if I taught at a mental institution.

I used to have a student who would freak out at me. I would respond back in an extremely calm manner. He'd shut up for awhile... I think he was perplexed and didnt expect that reaction from me.

some of our students definitely know how to drive us up a wall.... I have at least two students in my morning class that I would be thrilled if they never came to class again....

Well I have an entire class like that in the afternoon. They make me want to quit teaching.

Have you tried getting to know this student outside of the classroom? Home visits? Maybe if you get to know more about their life at home, it would be easier to forgive the behavior. I do realize it is difficult. I'm getting the picture that upper grades are not so hot.
